German born violinists Julia Kuhn received her first violin lesson at the age of 5 at the Georg-Friedrich-Händel Conservatoire in Halle and won prizes in national and international competitions from an early age.
Julia holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in violin from the Mozarteum Salzburg and a Master of Arts degree in baroque violin from the Royal Academy of Music London. She graduated from both courses with distinction. She was made an ARAM (Associate of the Royal Academy of Music) in 2016, an award given to former students who have made a significant contribution to the music profession.
Julia is a core member of the English Concert, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and the Internationale Bachakademie Stuttgart, and performs with the English Baroque Soloists. She has played for renowned conductors such as Sir Simon Rattle, Sir András Schiff, Vladimir Jurowski, Sir Mark Elder, Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Marin Alsop, Robin Ticciati und Ivor Bolton.
Julia enjoys teaching and regularly gives masterclasses and workshops on both modern and baroque violin and in historically informed performance practice.
